Chapter Activities and Projects

The La Cuesta Chapter, NSDAR, invites you to attend a chapter social, meeting, event, or activity. The mission of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is to promote HISTORIC PRESERVATION, EDUCATION, and PATRIOTISM. DAR is one of the world's largest and most active service organizations. Most volunteer work for the Daughters of the American Revolution is accomplished through a committee system. Committees not only make our chapter successful, they are truly the best way for Daughters to have an opportunity to get to know the other chapter members, contribute to the DAR and the community.

La Cuesta Chapter, NSDAR, supports many of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution committees, below are a few the Chapter is currently supporting.

La Cuesta Chapter, NSDAR, sponsors an American History Essay Contest 8th grade and Patriots of the American Revolution DAR High School Essay Contest 12th grade yearly.

Our chapter supports the Penny Pines program, using our donation together with Federal funds, the Forest Service program replants the recently burned areas in the National Forest lands of California.

As a Chapter, we observe special events, celebrate historical anniversaries, and attend memorials in our local community. Chapter members create displays at San Luis Obispo County Library honoring historical anniversaries throughout the year.

This Chapter Committee provides many ways for DAR members to say "thank you" by acknowledging and recognizing veterans' service, sacrifice, and commitment to the preservation of our nation's freedom. La Cuesta Chapter, NSDAR supports the local Disabled Veterans (DAV) Chapter 45, Pancake Breakfast, the Central Coast California Honor Flight, Wreaths Across America project at San Luis Cemetery, and Stamps for the Wounded.

La Cuesta Chapter, NSDAR awards DAR Youth Citizenship Medals at San Luis Obispo elementary schools yearly. One medal per school is awarded to a 6th grade student who fulfills the qualities of honor, service, courage, leadership and patriotism.

Our chapter supports Hospice SLO County with donations of handmade Hats, Shawls and Lap Blankets made by Chapter members.

Members of La Cuesta Chapter, NSDAR, have been volunteering for an election precinct in San Luis Obispo County. We view this as community service, as well as an opportunity for a Chapter Fundraiser. This is our largest fundraiser, which allows the chapter to sustain the NSDAR mission.
